Cruel Ways To Go Out | Anime & Animation

So I'm pretty sure we've seen some messed-up things. And that's what comes with anime and/or animation series in general. That's the cost of our love - the risk of being traumatized. Now I can't possibly cover all of them because the anime and the animated series world is a vast one, but I think I have a good idea of scenes that may have affected everyone to some degree.

  1. Itachi Uchiha's Tsyukuyomi & Uchiha Massacre | Naruto

I believe the first time we saw this terrifying Jutsu was when Itachi used it on Kakashi. This Jutsu makes you suffer for unbelievable amounts of time and you're at the complete mercy of the caster. It is a Mangekyo Sharingan dojutsu and it's one of the most powerful Genjutsu in existence.

And for good reason.

Itachi used Tsukuyomi as a means to subject his victims to days worth of torture in a matter of seconds; Kakashi constantly relived being stabbed over and over. After the jutsu was finished, Kakashi didn't die but he probably would've if Lady Tsunade hadn't healed him.

After all, it was so bad that Kakashi was in a comatose state.

In addition, there's also the Uchiha Massacre; I simply couldn't leave this off after some thought. The worse part is that the Uchiha clan didn't suspect this. Talk about being wiped from the face of the earth. I don't know what was more shocking. The fact that Itachi was able to bring himself to do it, or the fact that his parents welcomed their deaths and accepted it.

2. Mayuri | Superhuman Drug | Bleach

Now, this is something that caught me by surprise and excited me. This was a battle between two scientists and we all knew that only one of them was walking away alive. Little did Szayleaporro know, this would be his final battle and he would feel the remnants of it for centuries.

I'm sure our Espada had plenty of time to recall his mistake - which was absorbing Nemu. Apparently, Mayuri experimented and the new drug he came up with was in Nemu's body. It was called the Superhuman Drug and it cost Szayleaporro's sanity. Szayleaporro waited decades and decades to be killed and had no option but to watch Mayuri's blade pierce his heart slowly. His senses had become superhuman via the drug Mayuri created and it made everything slow down to tortuous degrees.

Szayleaporro found it so unbearable that he was practically begging to be stabbed and eagerly welcomed his death.

3. Pilot Guy & Guardians of the Globe | Invincible

Now I have two for our third slot, only because I'm trying to stick to one per anime and or animation. Or at least as much as I can. Anyway, I'm sure a lot of people would agree that the Guardians of the Globe went out horribly as well as the random black pilot that Invincible saved from his dad. The Guardians of the Globe were all falsely summoned and Omni-Man basically gathered them all in one location. I guess he did this to ensure that no one survived and so that he wouldn't have to hunt them down individually.

They put up a good fight, as much as they could, and Omni-Man didn't walk away unharmed. And seeing as he worked with them, I figured he'd at least give them a painless death if he was going to kill them. But I guess he showed how he really felt and didn't see the need for mercy.

4. Tanjiro | Demon Slayer

So Tanjiro didn't necessarily die from this, but he definitely would've died if he kept going because it was getting hard for Tanjiro to detect reality. Luckily, Inosuke stopped him before Tanjiro could accidentally kill himself. For starters, it takes great resolve to do something like this. Granted, he was trapped in a dream-like illusion, but that doesn't make this scene any less impactful.

5. Being Eaten | Attack on Titan, Tokyo Ghoul, Promised Neverland

Honestly, I don't think I need to explain why this deserves to be on this list. But let's just say that Attack on Titan is the last anime world I'd want to be transported to. There's just no way. I don't even think I'd survive; I'd probably go out pretty quick. I don't think I could live fearing the outside world and knowing that I can be chomped on literally any day at any moment.

6. Being turned into Chocolate & Human Extinction| DBZ | Majin Buu

So this is a pretty messed up to go out as well. Can you imagine being turned into chocolate? And then being eaten by a pink evil-looking creature? I have no idea if they felt pain or not throughout the whole process, or if they just felt pain at the moment they were turned into chocolate. Either way, it's not something I would want to find out. I genuinely don't know what's worse this or the Titans. If anyone can come up with an answer to that, let me know.

7. Merged with a Dog | Full Metal Alchemist | Evil Dad

So this was cringe and hard to watch. I still haven't forgiven the dad for what he did and I don't think I ever will. And to his own family no less. I can't imagine the amount of suffering his daughter went through, nor the betrayal she must've felt. This was not only cruel but pretty emotional - at least for me.

8. Having your Brain Prodded | HunterxHunter

Not going to lie, this scene messed with me for a bit. I can't remember if he was still alive or not, but if he was...having your brain being poked WHILE alive is definitely a cruel way to go out. I don't even want to imagine the pain he must've felt as well as the fear.
